Really cool because the leaves are still intact despite the trees being dead due to the cold waters.
Subsequently, rainwater filled the valley and created the lake. The lake was created after an earthquake in 1911 that triggered a large landslide blocking the gorge and forming a natural dam.

Kaindy Lake is a 400 meter long lake in Kazakhstan’s portion of the Tian Shan Mountains located 129 km from the city of Almaty. The upper part of the trees protruding from the water lost their side branches and bark, and the wood turned white.
Above water, the sunken trees appear as large masts from lost ghost ships, or perhaps the spears of a mysterious army hiding and waiting for the right time to emerge. It's a forest submerged in a lake. The lake is famous for its scenic beauty particularly the submerged forest and the imposing trunks of spruce trees that rises out of the lake water. The lake reaches depths of nearly 30 meters (98 ft). Lake Kaindy, sunk deep within Kolsai Lakes National Park in Kazakhstan, is a natural landmark that was created out of a disaster.

Lake Kaindy (Kazakh: Қайыңды көлі, Qaıyńdy kóli, meaning the "birch tree lake" or landslide) is a 400-meter-long (1,300 ft) lake located in Kazakhstan. The lake surface itself changes color regularly and is often a very beautiful blue color. Lake Kaindy, meaning birch tree lake in Kazakh, is a 400 metres long lake located in Kolsai National Park in the Kazakhstan side of the Tian Shan mountain range, it lies 300km south east the city of Almaty. Kaindy means "full of Birch Trees". It's a very young lake that appeared only in the beginning of the last century as a result of the 1911 earthquake. It is located 129 kilometers (80 mi) east-southeast of the city of Almaty and is 2,000 meters (6,600 ft) above sea level. Despite the low water temperature, Kaindy lake is popular with diving enthusiasts. This strange color is caused by lime and other minerals that were in the water a hundred years ago. It is located 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) above sea level, 130 kilometres (81 mi) east of The uniqueness of the lake lies in the fact that after the emergence of a natural dam that blocked the gorge, the water that filled the dam formed the lake and did not destroy the spruce trees growing in this place along the river.
(The Kaindy river flows into the lake, passing through a two-sided rock face about 20 meters high).
But why this lake is so unique and popular? But as soon as you get closer to the lake, the water becomes crystal clear, and sometimes you can even see trout in it.
When you look at such a panorama, you get the feeling that you are looking at a submerged squadron: the bare trunks of trees resemble the masts of submerged ships. In winter, the surface of the lake freezes over and during this time, Lake Kaindy becomes a great spot for trout fishing and ice diving. Only 5 km away from the Lake you can find a manmade birch tree grove, that was planted a long time ago. The water is so cold (even in summer the temperature does not exceed 6 degrees) that the great pines still remain on the trees, even 100 years later.
