This film should be a classic in its own right.no matter which way you slice it, this was a bad movieno plot (and perhaps no script), terrible acting, beautiful locations shot nicely in a setting and situation with potential, some very interesting armour, and absolutely incompetent directing having no clue what it was doing or whyThe surprising brutality in this, the somber vibe from the washed out VHS copy on YouTube, the cinematography and score, all ala Eyes of Fire, and the staging of the medieval mortal combat in the woods is pretty terrific.Many knights even wearing armors covered with spikes sharp enough to pierce flesh on the violent crashes where utters grunting sighs and growls, gritty faces, clenched teeth inside helmets took place on those orgasmic manly combats.EXCALIBUR goes to the Middle Ages with this lavish but choppy and often incoherent Italian epic enlivened by some rousing, clanging swordfighting, gratuitous gore, and an oddball cast. Yes the acting is a bit lacking in places but what is good in the film more than makes up for that little flaw.Looking for something to watch? It's an expensive production made in Italy and although it's not in pair with Excalibur, it's a good movie.I guess it may be not easy to find it nowadays, since - as far as I know - this movie was never released in DVD.Reminiscent to Michael Mann's dreamlike movie The Keep. Tanya Roberts rides around with a heaving cleavage, various rapes are committed,mist swirls and people have limbs lopped off,magic crystals, samurai and midgets with magic powers who quote poetry are thrown into the plotline and still it doesn't make one iota of sense.Lightly psychedelic, oddly affecting Italo fantasy from Giacomo Battiato. Bradamante, a woman wearing an invincible suit of armor, is travelling the countryside at the time of the Crusades. Critics. Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2019.
